Nestled in the heart of Staffordshire, Blithbury Reindeer Lodge is a wondrous winter wonderland complete with Scandinavian style traditional wooden buildings, a Christmas tree lined sleigh ride area and a magical barn filled with fairy lights and an open fireplace. Oh, and of course reindeer, as it’s home to England’s largest reindeer herd.
Whether you want to feed their youngest reindeer calves; be pulled in a sleigh by their large male reindeer or fuss the extremely tame show reindeer, Blithbury Reindeer Lodge has a magical experience waiting for you.
We were lucky enough to be invited along to the preview evening for this Christmas season and we had a super time. Greeted by very warm and welcoming hosts, we were guided to the winter barn where a log fire kept us warm as we waited for the delights of the lodge. Cheery elves came and nattered to the children creating an enchanting feel about this magical place. Our hosts for the evening were fantastic sharing information about the reindeer as well showing real care for their customers. The delightful barn area has a wonderful log seating area where you can perch and listen to Mrs Claus tell a tale while you sip a cup of something warm.
We were treated to a tour of the reindeer barns where a whole of host of characters greeted us with twinkly eyes and wet noses. We got the chance to feed the beautiful beasts their favourite Scandinavian moss, which they adeptly sniffed out.
After our tour, we went to elf school where we had the chance to learn about the reindeer and make some magic food and then it was off to see the man himself in his plush surroundings.
All in all we had a wondrous evening. It’s a lovely venue, with a beautiful setting and really lovely hosts. Well done Blithbury Reindeer Lodge. We’ll be back! It’s a 10 out of 10 from us at ‘A View from a Daddy’!
If you’re looking for an extra special treat, why not join the team on the run up to the last few days before Christmas for breakfast with Santa, and no doubt a reindeer or two!
