I thought we would enjoy the Little Angel Theatre’s production of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ at The Mac theatre Birmingham, but I never imagined it would be as enthralling as it was. We all loved it!
Saturday afternoon saw us visit The Mac for the little lady’s first theatre performance. Although advertised for anyone aged above 2, we were a bit nervous that she wouldn’t sit still for the duration or that the darkened setting would fill her with fear. We shouldn’t have been so panicked. She was engaged from start to finish.
The Mac is a fab setting with tiered seating and the studio we were in had a great amount of floor space where little viewers could sit at the front to get the best views. Our performance was a full house with lots of little ones full of excitement and anticipation. The lights do drop but the stage remains generally well lit so there shouldn’t be any panicking.
Four great puppeteers introduce the audience to the journey on which the wondrous and enchanting characters embark to the beat of some very catchy songs. Incredibly life-like, I was quick to forget that the characters were animated by hand as they entertained with a sense of magic.
The performance runs for approximately 45 minutes but the time soon disappears. Our little lady was smitten; singing along and joining in with the fun. I would highly recommend Little Angel Theatre company’s production of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ as something special for both young and old!
The show runs until the 29th November at the Mac Birmingham before moving on to Stratford.
