Happy Birthday Roald Dahl. In true Dahlicious style, we have taken part in his birthday celebrations and got our creative on to make a costume for the Little Lady. The weekend was filled with gathering kit and suspending saturday evening ‘relaxings’ to instead create the masterpiece that is a Golden Ticket. Little did I know that I would be faced with this challenge so early into the school term but we embraced it and here is the outcome.
For anyone out there with little ones yet to dress up, this was relatively easy. A pillow case, a can of spray paint, some poster paint, some gold card and a sharpie and ta-dar you have a Golden Ticket. Of course, the golden boots are a staple in her wardrobe anyway so that made that bit easy. They are however fur lined and on the hottest day recorded in September since 1949 perhaps we’ve lost all senses but if you suspend disbelief (a bit like when you enter the Wonka Factory – it should all be ok!).
The playground was full of Oompa Loompas, Fantastic Mr Foxes and even a Grandpa Joe – what a super morning. Well done to all those creative types out there. Have a truly scrumdidiliumptious day!
