We decided to holiday in the UK this year. As Xanthe is only 1, neither of us relished the idea of plane hopping and we definitely didn’t want to holiday anywhere that there would be lots of other holiday makers. We’re not adverse to it for the future but not just now.
We used the internet as our starting point to locate something remote in Pembrokeshire (a favourite spot of ours). True to form, the source did not disappoint and we soon came across a website called Welsh Rarebits that led us to Yr Hafan which is positioned just six miles out of St Davids.
Yr Hafan is a 5* boutique B&B that has self catering barn conversions attached. After an enquiry to ensure somewhere that looked so lovely accepted little people, we booked a one bed barn conversion with a bath (an essential for us).
We spent a week there in August and were overwhelmed with the beauty of the spot and the quality of the accommodation. With wifi, all the mod cons needed for self catering, under floor heating and a view of the sea from each window, we were in heaven. The furniture was of excellent quality and the decor was calming and contemporary. With superb views over Strumble Head, we were able to relax by night after days of exploring the idyllic coastline of Pembrokeshire. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Alison and Jeff, who were welcoming and excellent fonts of knowledge for hints and tips.
We had a fantastic stay-cation for a week at Yr Hafan and would definitely recommend it. We took a travel cot and a travel seat for Xanthe so it was like a home from home. Yr Hafan offers warm hosts, beautiful accommodation and tranquility which all contributed to a superb week. We will definitely be returning.
Enquiries can be made via the Yr Hafan website.
